Dr. Ammous received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in 2009. She completed a medical genetics residency at the University of Miami in June 2013 and a medical biochemical genetics fellowship at the University of Michigan in April 2024. She is double board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
Dr. Ammous is the Medical Director of the Community Health Clinic and its newborn screening (NBS) follow-up program (Miracle Dots). She serves on Indiana's Perinatal Genetics and Genomics Committee (PGG) and its NBS subcommittee.
Dr. Ammous has expertise in treating rare genetic and metabolic disorders with a compassionate heart for children and adults with special needs and their families.
Dr. Ammous goes by Dr. Z. She lives in Chicago, IL. She has one biological son who has a rare genetic disease and 4 step children. Dr. Ammous enjoys cooking, staying active, dancing, and learning new languages. She has traveled to almost 100 countries around the world.
